How the Hounds Got Their Groove Back

The Groove Hound is committed to serving the community and giving back as much as possible. We love dogs and our work extends beyond caring for our day-to-day pack. This isn’t just our day job … it’s our life!

With regular donation drives for ACCT Philadelphia, volunteering, and personal missions to help any dog that needs it, Gert & the team are always looking for ways to improve the lives of dogs in need.

Check out some of our recent philanthropic endeavors below – please note that this page is under construction…more to come as soon as possible!

Meet Myles: Rescued from Southern Delaware

We drove over 4 hours to retrieve little Myles from a neglectful situation, where he was malnourished, chained up and covered in bite marks. He had a lump on his head from an infected bite and was extremely withdrawn / shut down. When we got him back to Philadelphia, it was evident he loved other dogs but was very weary of humans (understandably).

After tons of love, much needed antibiotics and high-quality food, little Myles has shown major improvements in less than one week. He is the absolute sweetest little gem with the most soulful eyes. Seeing new friends now elicits tail wags and kisses compared to shaking and hiding.

We are going to continue to rehab this little dude and he will be ready for adoption shortly (if we can bear to let him go!). Contact Gert at thegroovehound@gmail.com for more information on this awesome guy.

Meet Nana: The Sweetest Pittie in North Philadelphia

We met Nana after trying to track down another grey pittie we saw wandering the area (North Philly) the day prior. We immediately fell in love with her sweet demeanor and openness – plus, she loves hotdogs and cookies! Since she isn’t living in the most comfortable situation, we have committed to bringing her high-quality food and brought her some bedding to give this sweetie some love.

We’ll be checking in on her regularly and have built her a new shelter thanks to the generous donations of our friends and family.

Stay tuned for updates!

Meet Blueberry Donut: Saved from surrender

As they were heading into ACCT for a volunteer shift, Gert & Nicole saw a sweet bundle being carried through the parking lot. They quickly learned it was a bluenose pitbull puppy that was there to be surrendered due to having the deadly illness of Parvo. They quickly took him to VSEC and committed to saving his life, as allowing his surrender would have been akin to a death sentence due to the illnesses’ severity.

His success story comes from the generosity of so many folks willing to donate for his medical care, as well as Gert & Nicole’s tireless commitment to loving him and seeing him through his illness.

Blueberry Donut (aka Blue) is now happy and healthy, and has been adopted by a loving family (as shown below).
